Crimson Tide 711/6 Bowl

Numbered Edition

Crimson grapes, also known as red table grapes, have a rich history that dates back centuries. These succulent grapes are a variety of Vitis vinifera, the common grapevine, believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region. With their distinctive crimson hue and sweet, juicy flavour, crimson grapes quickly gained popularity and are now grown in vineyards around the world and displayed in table bowls to tempt our fancy. Rachel’s choice of shape is not surprising and the design is also a perfect choice for Moorcroft’s famous flambe painted effect.

As a crimson tide floods the grapes and the ground to allow apricot hues within the grapes to blush, a network of vine leaves twist and curl over trailing stems, each one woven like wicker into the base of the bowl. Peeping over the edge of the bowl, the crimson tide of cadmium, shaded to perfection, will fascinate many. Indeed, in Western religions, including Christianity, Judaism and Islam, the colour red is often associated with divine love, sacrifice, and redemption. The depth of such a crimson tide and glaze mastery required in its creation, means that this design will only be painted by master craftswomen – Wendy Mason and Julie Dolan.
