Vine House CL1 Clock

Clock

Cattleya tenebrosa 'Victor Warbarton’ was shown by Mr A. Warburton to the RHS Orchid Committee on 27 June 1899 where it gained an Award of Merit and was painted by a young Nelly Roberts, the RHS orchid illustrator of that time. The Warburton family owned Flash Mill, a cotton mill in Lancashire and their home, Vine House, was famous for growing grapes and orchids.

Now the hands of time tick backwards in Vine House, a Moorcroft clock design which harks back to the original watercolour by Nelly Roberts of Cattleya tenebrosa 'Victor Warburton'. Blasting out with golden marmalade glazes with bronze, copper and brownish undertones contrasting against the spectacular dark pink to deep purple lip around the clock face against an ivory ground, Vine House ticks away softly as a family home of orchid growers and a celebrated RHS illustrator are united in the Applied Arts.
