A Land at Peace - Master PLQ11 Plaque
So close was East Anglia to Germany and the northern reaches of the Western Front that it played a crucial role in both world wars, when the threat of invasion was very real. Windmills are icons of the region and were once a focal point in every community providing employment and producing vital flour, to feed the British population. Throughout the Twentieth Century windmills became disused were decommissioned and demolished. Nicola’s design is a reflection of a time of peace and calm, before war planes soared the skies and sirens rang through the air. This peaceful design features remembrance red poppies amongst sprays of corn in luscious green fields - a vision of a land at peace.
