harvest moon 246/11 Bowl
This year, the watchers among us would have noticed that the Harvest Moon seemed closer to the earth than usual with an atmospheric golden glow. Captured by Kerry in Harvest Moon the moon, whose light has traditionally allowed farmers to work into the night and bring in crops from the field, comes glowing, bigger and brighter, over a field of harvested corn, as if it had come to rest on the rolling hillside. Much like Van Gogh’s La Moisson, Kerry wanted to capture the nostalgia of farm life and work on the land. The wheat field is stripped down to vivid yellow stalks, the corn bundles neatly tied and the reapers tools are laid to rest as the Harvest supper commences. This is a design so apt for a new pasta bowl shape, with boughs of clouded trees curving over the harvest as if nature itself wanted to bend with the harvesters at work.
