Chuckling flocks of fieldfare roaming the UK’s countryside are a delightful part of the winter scene. Focusing on just a single bird, Kerry brings the fieldfare’s plumage into full glory. Speckles of chestnut-brown upon a yellowy breast fade into a pale grey rump and head. The handsome songbird has its beady eyes upon glossy clusters of tempting woody nightshade or ‘bittersweet’. These twinkling red berries offer the promise of sustenance during a snowy morning when only a lone cottage and snow-laden trees can be found amid the thick blanket of snow.
