On Parade 159/6 Vase
The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is a story written by E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816, in which a young girl’s favourite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive and defeats the Mouse King in battle. Later that century, in 1892, the Nutcracker made its debut in Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet of the same name. The ballet is set on Christmas Eve and nutcrackers have become synonymous with the festive season ever since. On Moorcroft’s limited-edition vase, three Nutcrackers are on parade, each ablaze of colour in their blue, green and red regimental uniforms.
