Picking sloe berries is slow work. Certainly, it channels your ancient gathering instinct. Alicia, a designer known for being inspired by hedgerow fruit, knows that you cannot rush the process as you need to be mindful of some dagger-like thorns. A fitting design for an Easter egg to celebrates the beauty of redemption in the thorns as well as new life, symbolised by the blackthorn blossom. Blossoming around Easter, blackthorn trees have clouds of snow-white flowers and Alicia offsets these against the rich, inky, dark fruits.
