Pemberley 365/20 Vase
This vase is new territory for Nicola Slaney, and for that reason alone, a serious challenge for even a leading ceramic designer. Nicola has always worked on the theory that on any design image, there is always room for more than a single image or inspired thought. In Pemberley, there are two of the most famous characters ever created by author Jane Austen, and Nicola puts both of them firmly centre stage. However, there is more to this design than just Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy. At the base is a veritable feast of fruit and blossom that even William Moorcroft himself would have envied, but Nicola goes further and delivers an absolutely classic Moorcroft tree under which the couple stand together. The great house, Pemberley, home to the Darcy family for centuries, stands silently in the background, playing its own pivotal role in both Austen’s novel and Nicola’s design.
