King's Favourite PLQ12 Plaque
King Charles III has for many years been known to have a personal favourite flower – the delphinium. He is recorded as saying “I have an absolute passion for delphiniums – and I’ve always had it”. Designer, Nicola Slaney, is also an admirer of this noble plant and she brings forward for the coronation an elegant jug featuring a bouquet of delphiniums with some in shades of pure white, and others a soft blue, mauve mix – colours recognised to symbolise youth and renewal. May’s coronation is a new chapter in the life of the British Monarchy, with the institution’s renewal for a new generation with King Charles on the throne. On the accompanying plaque, Nicola has added white phlox flowers with dark purple centres and pale leaves - a cottage garden plant which sets off the soaring delphinium above to perfection.
